Dance Step How-To: A Lay-Back Kick

Looking for a kick to add to your advanced jazz or contemporary dance routine? Try a Lay Back! This steps adds a little flare to your standard forward kick.

How To Do a Lay Back:

1. Step with your right foot forward and kick, in a sweeping motion, upwards to 90 degrees with your left leg. At the same time, circle your arms up to your ears.

2. Your arms should be beside your ears at the top point of your kick.

3. Still at the top point of your kick, then arch back with your head following, with your arms making a sweeping, circular motion backwards, to step out of the kick.
